Adding videos from YouTube

YouTube Videos can be added to any 3D space, using the YouTube Plasma TV 3D object. In the search box, type: youtube

Find the object marked YouTube Plasma TV. Drag and drop this object into your 3D environment, and you will be asked to specify the YouTube Video URL.

Simply copy the URL of any YouTube video, paste it into the properties window inside ExitReality and click the Done button. You should see a TV object appear in your 3D environment.

To play the YouTube video, click on the TV screen. Your avatar will be moved to be directly in-front of the TV screen, and your chosen video will be displayed, along with the normal YouTube interface.

When you have finished watching the video and wish to continue exploring in 3D, click the close button.

There is also a general Plasma TV object for videos that are not on YouTube. Search for Plasma TV and use that object in a similar manner.

This object can accept values for:

  • The URL of the Movie
  • The URL of the image to display when the Movie is not running
  • The URL for the geometry of the TV. If you are feeling creative, you can create your own 3D TV model, and use that model instead of the default TV.
ExitReality currently supports the following video formats:
  • .avi
  • .mpg and .mpeg
  • .rm
  • .wma
  • .wmv
  • .gif (animated GIF files)
  • .asf

Will we be able to show movie (Quick Time) media that runs on the webpage. Our website consists of many movies that we have made, and host/stream from our own servers. Not everyone likes YouCrude.

Do you intend to have facilities whereby a webpage with QuickTime Movies will render in this engine? A lot of my websites do have mov formats, not youtube.

We intend to implement support for .mov files in the transmog, but we have not announced a timeframe for this yet.
