Installing ExitReality

When you click a LAUNCH IN 3D button and do not have ExitReality installed you will be redirected to our Download Page, where you can download the software.

When downloading the software, you may need to click the yellow bar at the top of the browser window and allow ExitReality to be downloaded.

If a dialogue box appears with the option to run or save, click run.

During Installation, if the following dialogue message comes up, ensure all Internet browsers are closed before continuing with the Installation.

Once you have downloaded and Installed ExitReality, you will need to sign-up in order to meet and interact with other users in 3D. The sign-up page should open automatically. If the sign-up page does not open, click the sign-in button, which is next to the Search Tab at the top right of the screen.

If you don't like the avatar you have chosen, you can change it by clicking on the Search Tab, and then click on the word Avatars. You will see search results for all the Avatars that have been found in the ExitReality Search Engine. Simply drag and drop any one of the avatars into the 3D scene and your avatar will be changed. You can change your avatar whenever you like, as many times as you like.

Note: If you are running any other VRML/X3D plug-ins you will have to re-register them with IE as the ExitReality plug-in will become the default plug-in for all VRML/X3D pages and doesn't seem to be friendly to pages outside it's interface. You will need to do this only once, fortunately, and then everything works well after that. :-)

When I try to install I get stuck in an infinte loop with the message advising that I may need to close my browser. This occurs whether I close the browser or leave it open, or run the installation file with the browser closed. When I click yes (indicating I wish to continue the installation), the alert pops straight back up!

@John: The most likely cause of this is that windows has not closed IE fully. Sometimes, when you shut IE, hidden instances are still running. This can cause the problems with the installation process that you are describing. Check Task Manager >> Processes to see whether IE has shut down completely, and kill off any instances of iexplore.exe that are still there.
